Year 6

Dear Parents/Guardians

This has been a fantastic semester for Grade 6 students. The following is the feedback from Grade 6 students about their learning and the various activities they’ve participated in throughout this semester.

It’s hard to believe that semester one has flown away so quickly. In this semester, I have learned about many things. In Geography, I learnt about the Asian countries. In Maths, I’ve learnt about ratios, percent, how to add and subtract fractions with different denominators, circumferences etc. In English, I’ve learnt how to sizzle start a letter. In Health & P.E, I’ve learnt about fitness, social and emotional wellbeing. I’ve also enjoyed participating in Iftar dinner this term. I liked being student manager, my duty was to welcome the guests and guide them to their tables. I provided assistance in male prayer room and performed Allah’s 99 names on stage.

Mahdi Almousawy

I learned about different topics for all my subjects during this semester. For example, in Maths, I learned about times tables, decimal, percent, fractions with different denominators, how to use co-ordinates, how to convert units of length, area and the circumference. In Integrated Studies, we learnt about immigration which includes learning about the migration of people from different countries e.g. Spain, Italy & China and many more. In English, we learned about how to write a letter to my Pen Pal from another school in Queensland.

Ayshanur Sheriff

In Literacy, I learnt about Pen Pals and how to write an informational report. In Health & P.E, I learnt about fitness, wellbeing, cyber bullying & resilience. My favourite game was playing soccer with our teacher. Now I am a strong goal keeper and a good striker. In R & V, I enjoyed practising for the reading competition and performing on stage. I also liked to meet people from the other Sirius College campuses. I want to say fare well to Ramisa Chowdhury and wish her good luck for the next year.

Tahira Quwat

My favourite part of the first term was going on camp to Sovereign Hill, with Miss Cartwright and Miss Avan. My favourite activity was gold panning, but I also enjoyed activities like lolly making, learning how to purify gold, going into the gold mines. I really enjoyed spending time with my friends Ava and Siebel, sleeping away from home and having fun. My favourite part of term 2 was preparing for the R and V Annual Reading Competition. I really enjoyed working with Raihaan and Qunoot & Ramisa. Miss Amjed was really supportive. She took us to Melbourne ISRA where we performed Allah’s 99 names and contested against other campuses. We got third position and we all felt very proud and happy. Another main highlight of this semester was the Iftar dinner at G.V. hotel. I participated in a couple of performances and felt honoured being a student manager. I performed on Mawlaya Sali was salaam, Eid-un- said and 99 names of Allah (Asma ul Husna).
